LL YOUTH THEATRE

LL Youth Theatre is all about Acting, singing, dancing and performing open to all young people living in the communities of Llangenith, Llanmadoc, Llanrhidian and surrounding Gower Villages. LL Youth Theatre is a “not for profit” which means all profits made must be put back into the youth theatre and/or to the benefit of the community as a whole. I believe this, along with our innovative and comprehensive workshop programmes sets us aside from so many other profit making drama/acting class franchises that are on offer today. I have more than 25 years experience teaching performing arts to young people, having worked as an education officer for Lincoln's Theatre Royal and also as their Youth Theatre Director and for too many years to mention at Schools and Colleges heading up the performing arts departments. I have also worked for the Exam Board Edexcel, as a Theatre Studies Examiner for GCE Theatre Studies and as a Standards Verifier for BTEC performing Arts. As a member of the local community, I would love to see the Youth Theatre become an integral part of North Gower life. By launching the academy I am aiming to offer a much needed facility to the young people in our community. The workshops will be held in in Llangennith Village Hall. The workshops will run termly and culminate in a performance opportunity for all involved. We will be delighted to contribute to community events every year and plan to take our members to perform in several venues in Swansea, making our performances accessible to ALL local people. During the workshops we look at all aspects of theatre and the performance arts including Acting Singing Music composition and performance Movement and dance Script writing Directing Audition techniques Dialects Stage combat Set Design in addition to developing Theatre skills through the workshops and performances members of LL Youth Theatre will also be developing many essential life skills which they can carry through to their adult life.
