City Varieties Youth Theatre

I have seen an ethos of inclusive work with all members being encouraged, nurtured and cared for.” BOBAK WALKER: FREELANCE ARTIST The CVYT is a thriving, vibrant city centre youth theatre for 8-17 year olds run from the Leeds Grand Theatre Studio. Under the guidance of Artistic Director, Lizi Patch, members develop performing arts skills through weekly term-time workshops run by professional freelance artists. At the CVYT we strive to create, polish and perform work that excites us and our audiences equally. We provide a safe, warm and inspirational environment where our young people thrive. Absolutely no experience is necessary, just a willingness to have a go. Since launching in January 2012, our cast of young performers have packed out the City Varieties Music Hall and Howard Assembly Room with six sell-out full scale musicals and a range of contemporary plays, devised works and modern variety shows. “ I am very grateful for CVYT. It gave me the confidence to audition for the National Youth Theatre REP company which ended up being the spark to my acting career. CVYT was a place that brought laughter to my week and friends who I consider to be very precious to me. I just remember how much joy there was in rehearsals and laughter.
