Job Summary
ThirdSpace Theatre CIC is looking for an early-career enthusiastic person to join our Hangleton Drama Clubs for ages 7-16 as a drama teaching assistant. This is a mentoring and job opportunity and on-the-job training and one-to-one mentoring will be provided by the Artistic Director, Tanushka Marah.
Job Description
ThirdSpace Theatre is committed to making the arts more accessible for children and young people from all backgrounds, teaching drama, stage combat, and script writing in an out-of-school setting, as well as running holiday clubs. We currently run 17 clubs across Brighton, Hove, and Lewes.
They are a growing company and would like to meet people who will work well within their busy team and who share their belief that the arts should be for everyone.
The role will be on a freelance basis and you will be responsible for your own taxes.
You would be working in two clubs in Hangleton (Brighton & Hove) - Senior group (ages 11-16) and Junior group (ages 7-11)
This is an assistant role with job-related training included, e.g. First Aid, Safeguarding, Youth Mental First Aid Training.
Whilst not expected to teach classes on your own, you will learn all aspects of running a club and carry out various other tasks that are key to the smooth running of our theatre school including administration and research.
Hours: 4 hours a week during term-time (Mondays 3:45 - 5:45pm and Wednesdays 3.30pm - 5.30pm). Candidates will need to confirm their availability for these times.
Pay: £12 per hour
They are particularly interested to receive applications from those facing barriers to education, who are not in full time-education or employment, neurodiverse applicants, those with a minority ethnic heritage and those with knowledge of the West Hove Area.
Job Requirements
You must:
Be available between 3:45pm - 5:45pm on Mondays and Wednesdays 3pm - 5pm during term time.
Be willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
Be willing to undergo training in First Aid, Youth Mental First Aid, and Safeguarding.
Be 16 years old or over.
Ideally you should:
Have an interest in the arts / performing arts.
Be comfortable assisting groups of up to 30 young people, ages ranging from 7-16.
Have a positive attitude and great energy
Be able to work well as part of a team, taking initiative, and working with the team leader and teachers to deliver a great theatre arts experience to all students.
Be committed to diversity & inclusion.
