NODA Theatre Summer School - Youth Theatre Directing

The 2023 School will take place from Saturday 29th July - Saturday 5th August 2023 at Yarnfield Park, Stone, StaffordshireDirecting Youth Theatre.


This course is for aspiring or established directors who want to be able to work with young people creatively and inclusively as a director or workshop leader. It is an opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge that will engage young people in performing arts and enhance their creative experience.


During the week you will:

  • Explore a variety of approaches to work creatively and productively in the rehearsal or workshop room.

  • Interrogate issues around inclusivity to ensure that your rehearsals and workshops are safe and secure and a place where the needs of young people are met

  • Play with staging and devising techniques to expand your knowledge of how to make entertaining theatre with young people

  • Explore material that will inspire and engage young people creatively


This course is for students who are happy to get involved and work in a variety of groups in a practical workshop environment.


Tutor: Nathan Powell
Nathan is a Director and Writer, making work nationally from his home in Liverpool. Nathan is the Artistic Director of NSDF and an associate artist at 20 Stories High. Nathan Is currently developing a show for Derby Theatre (Writer) and has recently finished directing a tour of ‘The Lies You Tell’ by Yolanda Mercy with HighTide, New Wolsey Theatre and Theatre Royal Bury St. Edmunds in schools.
Recent credits include DOGS by Joe Ward Munrow (Liverpool Playhouse Studio), Love Liverpool (Liverpool Playhouse), A Sense of Belonging (Action transport Theatre), HomeGirl (Derby Theatre as writer), The Spine (National Tour), 846 and 846 Live (Theatre Royal Stratford East as writer), Macbeth (Orange Tree Theatre)

PAYMENT BY INSTALMENT
