Job Description

RE:ACT Performing & Production Arts is an award-winning performing and production arts school offering training and theatre opportunities for young people aged 5-19 across Somerset and Wales. As we grow to meet the increasing demand for high-quality performing arts education, we are looking for passionate, energetic, and experienced Musical Theatre Class Leaders to join our expanding team. This is your chance to be part of something special and make a real difference to the lives of young creatives as we embark on our most ambitious year to date.

After initial training and guidance, you'll take on the delivery of new and existing classes, with opportunities to grow as demand increases. Beyond our regular classes, we have incredibly ambitious plans and need the right people at the heart of it to take RE:ACT Performing & Production Arts to the next level!

Job Requirements

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead energetic and inspiring musical theatre classes for young people aged 5-19 across various levels of ability.

  • Deliver a diverse curriculum which changes bi-annually that incorporates acting, singing, and dance, ensuring all students are engaged and challenged.

  • Create a positive, inclusive atmosphere that encourages self-confidence, creativity, and skill development.

  • Prepare students for performances, auditions, and opportunities, ensuring they are ready to shine.

  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and creative professionals to produce performances and showcase student talents.

  • Continuously assess student progress and provide constructive, motivating feedback.

  • Ensure a safe and professional learning environment that prioritises safeguarding and wellbeing.

  • Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and participate in RE:ACT Performing & Production Arts events.

Job Responsibilities

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience: Proven experience in teaching musical theatre and performing arts, ideally with young people aged 5-19.

  • Education: Degree in Musical Theatre, or related subject or teaching qualifications (e.g., PGCE, CertEd) or training in child development or education.

  • Skills: Proficient in teaching acting, singing, and dance, and delivering a well-rounded, engaging curriculum.

  • DBS Check: Enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one.

  • First Aid: First aid trained or a willingness to undertake first aid training.

  • Availability: Long-term availability and commitment to the role.

  • Full UK Driving Licence or access to reliable transport to attend different locations

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience: Previous experience directing or choreographing productions.

  • Skills: Ability to play an instrument and accompany students vocally.

  • Knowledge: Familiarity with the latest trends in musical theatre.

  • Industry Experience: Active involvement in the industry.
