A New UK-Wide Acting Competition for Ages 9–19, Backed by the Ambassador
Theatre Group and the Federation of Drama Schools The National Youth Monologues launches this year as the ultimate stage for the UK’s next generation of acting talent. Designed for young people aged 9 to 19, this exciting new competition invites performers from every background to step into the spotlight and share their voice — with the support of the world’s largest live theatre company, the Ambassador Theatre Group, and the Federation of Drama Schools. Whether you're a bold new voice, a Shakespeare superfan, a screen drama enthusiast, or a creative mind ready to devise your own piece — this is your chance to shine.
Open to all young performers across the UK, the National Youth Monologues offers four categories to enter: Contemporary, Classical, Screen, and Devised, with four age brackets to ensure fair and exciting competition (Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Sixth Form). You can enter through your school, youth theatre group, or independently — and you can compete in as many categories as you like. Finalists will perform at the Live National Final on the 13th July 2025, where they’ll have the chance to take the stage in front of expert industry judges and a national audience at an ATG Entertainment West End venue. Prizes, mentorship, and professional opportunities await those who make it to the top.
This competition is all about championing raw talent and giving young people a platform to grow as artists. Whether you’re performing a modern classic, tackling Shakespeare, recreating an iconic film moment, or crafting something completely original — this is your moment. The competition is proudly open to everyone. Entry is free for any young person receiving Free School Meals, and travel bursaries are available to help cover the cost of attending the final in London.
